On International Women’s Day, we’re highlighting some of the integral work carried out by women in RAF operations during the Second World War. At Duxford, the Women’s Auxiliary Air Force (WAAF) fulfilled duties including clerical work, telegraphy, telephony, parachute packing and catering. In the Operations Room, a team of WAAFs were responsible for plotting. These women processed vital information from radar stations and the Observer Corps, such as the size and direction of incoming enemy raids
